Swiss Energy Law Association (SELA): Founding Meeting February 4th 2-5 pm online
Dear Colleagues:
I trust this message finds you well and that you successfully started the New Year. We all hope that Corona will become a matter of the past which, in 2020, has repeatedly prevented us from physically founding the Swiss Association of Energy Law for which you kindly showed an interest upon talking to Professor Espa from USI, and Federico Piccaluga, Legal Cousel, Durferco & ACC, both in Lugano. The following persons, so far have been involved or contacted:
1. Thomas Cottier, University of Bern – President
2. Ilaria Espa, USI – Secretary
3. Federico Piccaluga, Legal Cousel, Durferco & ACC – Vice-President
4. Barbara Antonioli, USI
5. Andreas Ziegler, Université de Lausanne
6. Stefan Reinsteiner, Vischer
7. Maria Luisa Cardellicchio, Legal Counsel, Aziende Industriali di Lugano
8. Tetyana Payosova, VBB
9. Michael Hahn, University of Bern
Given the continued restrictions, we decided to hold the founding meeting on February 4th, 2021 at 2 pm to 5 pm per zoom for which you find an invitation below. Please let us now confirming on outlook whether or not you will be able to participate. We also appreciate if you wish to share the invitation with other colleagues interested in energy law and policy whom you may know.
The challenges of climate change and renewable energy in the context of Swiss Commitments under the Paris Accord and unresolved relations with the European Union in particular on electrical energy are a good moment to launch the Association with a view to create a network of legal and policy specialists in the field throughout the country from different walks of life, research, government, private practice, industry and NGOs. It also is a good moment to take up relations with the European Federation of Energy Law which welcomes the advent of a Swiss Chapter.
The meeting on February 4th, 2021 from 2 pm to 5 pm will be dedicated to discuss and approve the Statutes as attached, appoint the officers of the Society and engage in discussions on impending work which should be taken up. Please find enclosed an agenda for the meeting as well as the draft Statutes which Ilaria Espa, Federico Piccaluga and myself prepared.
We very much hope that you will be able to join in setting up the new Association on February 4th, 2021.
